Top Brass, Year Forty Supporter Weight, Soho Jazz Festival 40th Edition

Are you one of Soho's Top Brass? Forty exist, one for each year since 1986, reserved for the people who keep the festival going. The rooms change names. The rents go up. The brass fixtures remain.

Every September the small rooms of Soho open their doors, the bands play, and over 100 independent artists are guaranteed a proper fee for it. That guarantee leaves a shortfall. Top Brass is how we cover it. £400, all in, and every penny goes directly to the players on stage this September.

Features: A solid brass trumpet mouthpiece from a Soho stage and a Soho Jazz Festival key plaque, set face up in a 95mm disc of piano gloss resin, 6mm deep. Poured in Soho in batches of ten, so no two are quite alike. Numbered by hand on the underside, one for each year from 1986 to 2026, and thanked by hand while we are down there. It sits on a desk, a bar or a piano and holds down a lot of paper.

The wall: Forty names, behind the band, every night. Put your name, your company, your family, a friend or a musician down and we put it on the supporters wall of flight cases that sits on stage across the festival and gets wheeled out every year after, hopefully for decades to come. It goes up 16 September. Placement is drawn at random. Prefer to stay anonymous? Say so and we will.
